Bye Bye 09 - Bring on 2010!

And so... here we are... waiting for a brand New Year to start! And this time around... I could not be more ready for a new cycle to kick in!

2009 was the year of New beginnings for many people out there! The year that Americans learn to deal again with economical hardship! We all had to reinvent ourselves and even for those that like me, got to keep their jobs... we did so by increasing our work hours, gathering extra functions and doing so for less or for the same pay!

We all took a hit in our pockets and we all got more worried about each other BUT this crisis/ recession may be also remembered as the time that brought we all closer together! I personally, have never made as much donations before as I did this year: Salvation Army, Red Cross, Charity Water, WWF, Humane Society... if I could I would give much much more but just to be able to help those that are going through much harder moments... was satisfaction and instant gratification on itself!

We worried not only about our own families but about our neighbours and friends and often times we even worried about total strangers! We heard and saw in the news... all the stories about folks that were losing everything... their homes, their vehicles, their possessions, their savings... I mean... It was a hard year, a year of financial stress and a year of losses BUT somehow, somewhat, someway we did it! We made through the hardship and together we are all hoping for a much better 2010!

I grew up hearing a saying, when there was hardship around... and it goes kindda like this... "God only places obstacles in the way of those that can overcome them"! I firmly believe that things can and will only get better now! Not only because of positive thinking but for 2 main reasons:

1 - It just cant get any worst, the economy has reached rock bottom and it simply has nowhere else to go other than a recovery trail... Uphill!

2 - We are still the United States of America and whether you like it or not... we will still set the bar in many sectors and we will still set the example and standards to many other nations to follow! We are and will be for a long time a Leadership nation, a Vanguard country of entrepreneurs and immigrants that have one major thing in common: We just don't quit! And that "never given up" Yank attitude will return prosperity to our land... It's compound progressive energy... It's as American as it gets since the time of the first settlers and pilgrims! It's the only way we now... We move forward!

I believe that 2010 will be a year of recovery and growth! I still believe in Obama to do a good job representing us in Washington... BUT above all I believe in the people of this country and those like me that live away from "Wall Street" and down here in "Main street"! I know that we can get out of this mess and rebuild a much better country.... That's what we are all about!

On a personal note... I'm also so very excited about 2010! It has everything to be a year of major changes for me! I'm deeply hoping that I can finally wave my Green Card high in the air! I also have a reunification moment ahead of me, right about in February.... with somebody very very very special in my life and that I can't wait to see again!

I'm definitely hoping for bigger and better things to happen and to come my way... and it sure would be even greater if many others around me: friends and foes, known people or total strangers where also starting to get back a little bit of joy in their lives! After all.... this entry is not about me but about us all... AND United we will ALWAYS stand!

I would like to finish up wishing a Merry Christmas and a Wonderful New Year to everybody reading, yet, another late night posting... and leave you all with my toast to an Outstanding 2010: Let it be a year full of joy, with lots of money in our pockets! That we may all live well, be prosperous and that we all stay healthy enough to even give a little bit away! ;) God Bless all of you!

Tic Tac Tic....Late Late Nite...Tac Tic Tac...

I don't really feel like writing anything. ...I just can't sleep, so I decided to turn the TV on but there is nothing on, if u know what I mean... it's late night Tuesday...

So... I decided to come here at the computer and check my twitter page. That fucking thing is sooo addictive!!!! I mean... whoever created twitter knew what they were doing!!! Its like the virtual 1 store shop! U get everything u need at one place and I think this is fucking great! I can't believe nobody thought about this shit before!

I need to go to sleep... For the past 5 minutes I was googling for a clock picture that I could add to this silly entry! Im just not feeling sleepy...

I mean... (sorry, Im still thinking about the twitter shit and I usually don't curse... but Im fucking tired and can't sleep.. so my apologies) Somebody out there, right now, is making some serious "dough" just by having thought about some stupid and obvious and simple idea!

No offense, I think it is genial! Guru like! I totally fucking luv it! Cheers to the age of networking! We are the information generation! The 3-D file-sharing socialization! The "pendrive-notebook-iphoneish" democracy of no geographical borders! By the way... Everybody I know has one and I cant believe that I still havent got myself a fucking I-Phone BUT that will be material for a whole other entire stupid late night entry...

Im still trying to find some clock picture! The TV man is selling beds.... and man... there are infomercials for everything u can imagine on late night TV! I gotta go to bed....

Sorry again... Im gonna rewind just a little... I was also trying to say that to top it all off Twitter seems to be able to keep on creating new ways of getting people! "Appleish" style... kindda like the apps for the iphone!

Twitter offers all sorts of different "apps". There is one for you to put ur pics and another for you to keep up with your followers! There is one for your background and there is even one for you to get news about new twitter apps! I mean... its fucking insane!!! The most recent one is the Twitter-List thing! Man.... I don't even want to get started talking about this new shit! I am so addicted... It's not even funny!

Anyways... gotta go to bed! I think I found the damn clock picture! Im sorry for rambling around on a late note... I was really NOT feeling like writing... but I think it helped to get me a little sleepy...

The Copenhagen convention approaches and we are trying to make more and more noise about the importance of the UN Climate Change discussions that will take place over there; this coming December!

Today, OCT 24th has been schedulle as the international day for ACTION regarding our concerns on global warming! I soooo wish I was not working today but that does not mean I can not help! Just talking to you about it, is already some help! Here are some of the little things that I do and that are easy to do and that anybody can do: I recycle, I "tweet" and blog about it, I talk to my family and friends and even total strangers about the importance of participating, I have changed all my house lamps for energy efficient ones, I support natural products and natural labels and etc.... but rememeber... its ALL about the little things that when placed togheter always have a HUGE impact!

I've seem news today from all different media sources and it is tear breaking to see so many of us fighting for such a noble cause! It still amazes me on how much good we can do when we put our hearts and minds to it!!! I strongly believe that WE ARE THE SOLUTION for the climate crisis and Im optimistic that the governments of the world will come to a concensus this coming December! As long we all keep on remembering them that we care and that we are watching!

OUR HOUR! OUR CAUSE! EARTH HOUR!

Today is Blog Action Day 2009 (BAD09) and the cause we all are tackling this year is the climate change! For too long, we humans, have explored the many resources from our planet in the name of prosperity and progress; without giving too much of a thought about its consequences to all living creatures (including ourselves) and the enviroment. The idea was that the resources were abundant and endless and that it was our "right" to explore it as the most developed species.

Well.... we were wrong! The lack of control and disrespect towards the Planet has created many many problems that are now becoming more and more clear to us all and that are also turning to be a threat to our own survival and to all other living species. The polar caps are melting, the ocean water temperatures are rising ("EL NINO" is becoming stronger every year), our forests are giving up space to farm lands and the farm lands are being affected by changes in the monsu cycles and becoming deserts (The Sahara desert is actually expanding at an alarming rate). It is the so called "spiral of death" and if we keep up at this rate it will eventually impact us all, rich and poor nations alike, generating even more problems such as disease, famine, caos and even war!

These are just a few of the problems that together form the so called CLIMATE CHANGE issue! For way too long, science have been discredited and it was also believed that all these phenomenoms were just another natural "cycle" in our planets history, just like an ice age for example! Once again, that became another "broken dogma" and today we know that OUR ACTIONS DO IMPACT EARTH! And impact a lot!

The good news is that we still can change, we are still not at the point of no return... there is HOPE! Many other people around the world, just like this humble blog entry, are speaking out and making sure that our powerfull message is heard! WE ARE THE SOLUTION for the Climate problem! WE can retrace our steps and rewrite our destiny! WE can make a positive impact in our planet and place our race once again in the right path and in harmony with the enviroment! It all starts with simple actions that when added with many other small actions.... it suddenlly become HUGE and it can MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

In the coming month of December, all nations of the world will get together to attack the climate change issue! Our mission is to ensure that the final decision is to vote for LIFE! "BAD09" is our weapon to show to the governements of the world that we want to choose our PLANET! That we pick EARTH and that by doing such we are not only protecting the environment but we are also ensuring our own survival!

This is such an important moment for our planet! This is the earth hour... The 60 minute! On the last March 28th, this year, many of us once again "voted" for legislation to be approved across the world to help with the climate and environmental issue. Once again, "our light switch was our vote" and our participation is being used to help on approving new laws to SAVE our world!

In December this year, world leaders will gather in Copenhagen to determine how the world deals with climate change. Their choice is simple – Earth or global warming. The fight is still on! We have to keep on pressuring and show support as "citizens of the world" in order to make it clear that we demand action on climate change!

Sleepless Week!

So..... Im not sure if Im just impressed with these earhquake news and my subconcience is reacting to it or if I am watching too much Discovery Channel or if something is trying to alert me! This past week for 2 times I had the same dream and I woke up in the night and could not sleep for a while!

I've been dreaming that an earthquake will hit us and my truck will get smash in the garage and my house will collapse! A total caos situation! Im able to survive it all but in the dream Im standing on a moutain of debri and without anything else other than the clothes Im wearing! Is this freaky stuff or what?

I had the same dream again last night and its just freaking me out! In my work we have a division that works with American Samoa and as a lot of you may know, a major earthquake stroke those islands and many people died! We followed the drama first hand and we are still sending help (supplyes, machinery, water, food) to the poor people of those islands!

I think those stories really got to me! The pictures I saw, the despair in the face of the people, all the destruction! It was really sad!

Everything is normal here in LA and other than the problems with these dreams Im doing just fine! I hope I don't have anymore of these sleepless nights ahead of me! One thing Im doing, at least for the next week! I've decided to park my car at the street! Better safe than sorry! All Im saying....

VICTORY at LEAST!!!!! and Pain!!!!!

After a few rounds and many many arguments and discussions (do we play 4-4-2.. or 5-3-2? / who should play? where do they play? Who is the keeper? / etc) "Kedar Football Club" (our soccer club) conquered a VICTORY again!!!! We won in the first round and since them.... there has been many many heartbreaking games! Our overall record now is 2 victories 2 ties and 3 losses! Do you want to know what was the best of all? I'll tell ya... We beat a team that was playing with Argentina's jersey and shorts! At the end of the day: 3 x 1 for us!!!! Jogo Bonito baby!!! hehehe It was pure GLORY and JOY!

Not all is bueno... as I got hurt and I don't think I will be playing for the next 2 weeks! Sprained anckle was the diagnostics! 2 weeks down! So no gym and no soccer! BOOOOOOO! Whatever!!! I am doing my best to be back there by next week! The victory got us all PUMPED UP!!!

VIVA KEDAR!!!! To the TOP and BEYOND!!!! hehehehe

Voltando a Luz!

Ok .. 100% de nuevo!

Semana passada comecamos nosso torneio de futebol! Ou soccer... como eles dizem aqui... Sou o camisa 10 (em terra de cego quem tem um olho eh rei!) e nosso time tem uma vitoria e uma derrota em 2 jogos.

Os jogos estao sendo de domingo, o que eh bem legal! Eu jogo no meio campo mas me arrisco pouco no ataque... gosto mais de dar passes e coordenar o time pelo meio. A turma aqui entende pouco de futebol e precisam levantar mais a cabeca antes de passar a bola mas nao falta vontade de aprender e eles sao esforcados!

TO em empolgado.... serao 14 jogos este ano, praticamente um pouco mais q 3 meses de futebol! O Nosso time se chama Kedar, o que parece q significa "diamante" em espanhol mas a maioria da turma eh americana... menos o capitao e o "tecnico" q foram responsaveis por inscrever o time, dai o nome em espanhol.

Eu comecei a jogar com eles por causa de dois dos guris do trabalho q haviam me convidado no ano passado..... mas eu por varios motivos nao tinha decidido entrar. Nesse ano, a coisa eh diferente e como pode se ver... motivacao total!

Parece ainda q a "LIGA" tem trofeus para os 3 primeiros colocados q vai desde "gift cards" ateh trofeus individuais e camisas para os "CAMPEOES"!!! Hahaha... dah pra acreditar?

Em frente KEDAR!!! Nosso time ainda vai longe!!!!

Movie Season is On!

Sabado passado fomos assitir o novo filme "X-MEN Origins: Wolwerine" na Universal City em LA. Que filmao galera!!! Vale a pena mesmo... pra quem gostava dos quadrinhos como eu... existem algumas mudancas (spin-offs) mas assim mesmo o filme eh muito legal e os guris adoraram.

Antes do filme o Eric cogitou um novo restaurante, pertinho da Universal chamado "Micella". Um restaurante italiano com comida muito boa e barata; mas o mais legal eh que os garcons e garconetes cantam durante todo o jantar em italiano e musicas autenticas! Um barato!!!

Semana q vem queremos ver o novo StarTreck no IMAX e ainda tem Transfromers 2 e o novo e ultimo Terminator q estah saindo agora na proxima sexta feira! Pra quem gosta de cinema o prato esta cheio! Uma temporada de filmes com bastante CGI (Computer Graphics and Image) q eu adoro... quem nao gosta de efeitos especiais??? E estou bastante animado com essa programacao!!! Anybody up???

An Older Rommance....

One of the things I miss the most is soccer! Specially when it comes to my club team... the glorious "auri-verde" (white and green) PALMEIRAS! Well, even knowning I can't really watch all the games... I still do my best to follow the team.

Yesterday, we needed a simple victory in Chile against Colo Colo to qualify towards the round of 16 on the Continental championship, aka Libertadores de America. And guess what? Yep, we did just that! A suffered victory 1x0 against them on their own field!!! Proofing once again how good it is to be a PALMEIRENSE :)

Im very proud of the team and that is the reason for this posting! Bellow is the link for the GOAL scored in the 87 min of the 2nd half that clinched my team in the next round!!! What a goal!!! You GO VERDAO (BIG GREEN-as my team is called back in Brazil)!!!!

EARTH DAY 2009 - 22 DE ABRIL

Dai cumpades & cumades?

Pra quem ainda nao estah ligado... na proxima semana eh EARTH DAY (DIA da Terra) e como todos os anos... temos q apagar as luzes a partir das 20:00 (8 da noite) aonde quer q voce esteja! Tai uma boa desculpa pra um vinhote, jantar a luz de velas and you know.... hehe! Nao, falando serio agora, eh muito importante participar e alertar outras pessoas!

Sao as pequenas coisas q fazemos todos os dias q realmente fazem a diferenca em nosso planeta! Tomar banhos mais curtos (essa eh pras gurias q ficam 1 hora no banho our marmanjos q gostam de lavar carros com a mangueira de casa - tuh sabes qta agua vai nisso? Por baixo... uns 120 litros de agua pra lavar um carro), apagar as luzes e eletrodomesticos pela casa, reduzir o termostatus pra 60 graus Fareinheint (24-25 graus Celsius), nao tacar papel e lixo no chao... e etc!

Lembre-se sempre, q apesar de toda a tecnologia e pesquisa, ainda nao encontramos um outro planeta como o nosso em nenhum lugar do universo.... entao eh melhor q tomemos muito BOA CONTA de nossa Terra! Nossa unica casa nesse "gigantesco mostrondonte" Universo!

Voce CONTA e pricipalmente suas acoes! Entao... comece a pensar rapido!!! Mais do q nunca nosso planeta precisa de todos agindo juntos.... por uma nobre causa.... CUIDAR DE NOSSA PROPRIA CASA! O LINDO PLANETA AZUL!

No Final de semana passado tive a honra de receber meus amigos Chris, Stephanie e meu afilhado Nathan aqui em casa. Eles se mudaram para o Arizona fazem uns 3 -4 meses atraz e claro deixaram muitas saudades pra toda a galera aqui na California.

Eles tinham um casamento para ir na Sexta Feira, e passamos o Domingo e a Segunda aqui em casa e revendo todos os seus amigos.... O mais legal eh que o filhinho deles, o gurizinho Nathan eh um amor de pia!!! Com certeza o nenem mais tranquilo q jah vi e ao inves de chorar o que ele gosta de fazer eh dar risada.... o guri sorri pra todos q brincam com ele! Eh um sarro!!!

Jah estou com muitas saudades dos amigos q nessa terca voltaram para o Arizona. A intencao deles eh de regressarem de vez aqui pra California ateh o final do ano.... Voces 3 jah estao fazendo falta!!!!

TEMPO...

Parece q eh impossivel pra mim encontrar minha outra metade. Nao, esse nao eh um blog "piegas" . Eh apenas a constatacao de um fato. Depois de alguns meses de namoro firme... decidimos q seria melhor q nao nos vissemos mais.... nao...nao houve nenhuma briga... ok... houveram algumas brigas...

A Angela e eu sempre fomos meio q vai e vem, ficamos, separamos (ela se mudou), voltamos (ela voltou pra LA) e agora juntos.... a coisa nao dah certo e decidimos q seria melhor... seguindo caminhos separados.

O mais cruel? Nao consigo me sentir mal por termos terminado. Na verdade, me sinto meio "aliviado"... serah q essa eh a palavra certa? Depois de quase 8 anos aqui nos EUA, e nao quero me passar por metido por q nao sou, mas sinto q posso dizer q as americanas sao extremamente possessiveis!

No meu estagio na vida... TEMPO... eh o maior problema q tenho e isso eu admito. Tempo pra trabalhar (bastante), tempo pra estudar (cursinhos), academia, sair (tem que ter tempo pra isso, senao o cara pira), visitar e rever os amigos, festas, aniversarios... tudo parece tao corrido nesses dias...e claro, sempre achei q estava dando tempo o suficiente pra gatinha... mas essa nao eh a opiniao dela...

No mes passado fui de ferias para a Florida, encontrar minha familia. Como eles dizem aqui... It was a blessing!!!! Foi um grande passeio e revi minha mae, pai, vo e irma!!!! Me fez um bem danado!!! A Angela, nao pode ir... por 2 motivos. Primeiro o trabalho dela e segundo... grana! Pra ser sincero, eu queria passar minhas ferias com minha familia... e coisa tal... queria mesmo ... APENAS FICAR em FAMILIA!

Desde q eu voltei... as coisas andavam meio esquisitas... a gatinha estava meio distante... e eu juro por Deus. Nao tinha a menor nocao por que? Ha umas duas semanas, foi o aniver da mae dela... por causa de trabalho, eu nao pude ir.... e o bixo pegou..... Coisas foram ditas e reditas e a partir dali... nao deu mais pra reverter o rumo q a gente estava indo.

Ontem conversamos... e decidimos q eh melhor a gente se dar um "tempo"... Ela reclama q eu nao tenho tempo pra ela... q "tudo" sempre vem antes de nos.... q a gente nao se ve (pelo menos o quanto ela gostaria) e outras coisas desse sentido.... o q machucou, foi qdo ela disse q eu deveria ter aproveitado minhas ferias com ela e nao com minha familia... ou pelo menos juntos...

Pra ser sincero... eu nem tentei me explicar... deixei ela colocar pra fora o q ela pensava.... Eu nao tenho paciencia pra DRAMA e "joguinhos"... olha, se eu estou com voce, te ligo, te pego pra sair, cinema, bar, te levo pros meus amigos, passamos finais de semana juntos... I mean... o q mais q voce quer??? Mais do q isso... soh casando!!! E isso, pelo menos por agora.... nao dah!

Nao sei o q serah na semana q vem.... ou no proximo mes.... mas eu jah estou mesmo aceitando a condicao de solteiro de novo... e por agora.... feliz de estar de volta a comandar meu tempo! Meu amigo Jer, me disse q eu nao dou tempo pra ela por q eu nao estou tao assim afim dela... Nao sei se isso verdade.... gosto muito da Angela.... mas nao gosto de brigas e nao suporto draminha... acho q estou dando o maximo de tempo possivel pra passar com ela. Pessoalmente.... acho q diferenca de idade eh o que estah pegando... alem de nossas historias.... completamente diferentes... Pode ser que os opostos realmente se atraem... mas nao quer dizer, q permanecam juntos....

Como dizia o poeta.... "Que seja eterno enquanto dure". Amigos continuaremos... mas acho q por agora... isso eh o melhor pra gente. O problema, eh q sempre fica um clima chato... pelo menos enquanto eh recente... e o melhor eh se evitar pra nao piorar.

Escrevo hoje a noite, aqui de casa. A galera toda saiu... sexta a noite... tah calor. Eu preferi ficar em casa... agora tah me dando uma vontade de ligar... e esse blog tah me ajudando a deixar as coisas como estao... No fundo no fundo... acho q eh melhor assim. Jah falei, nao gosto de joguinhos... entao eh melhor me manter no q decidimos e nao passar sinais misturados pra ela.

To um pouco chateado.... mas nao triste.... Tenho certeza q no momento certo a pessoa certa vai aparecer... E o mais importante eh que ela, nao tera a menor duvida (nem eu) que todo o meu tempo serah todinho NOSSO!!! Afinal, nao importa a quantidade de tempo... mas sim a QUALIDADE do tempo q se gasta juntos!

Ateh quando???

Q desatre total essa bagunca no mercado financeiro hein? Fale serio! Tem vezes q penso quanta sorte tive em deixar o negocio de imoveis no momento em q o fiz! GRACAS A DEUS!!!

Nesses ultimos dias tenho sido bombardeado com ligacoes de antigos companeiros nos bancos onde trabalhei, buscano ajuda e emprego. Infelizmente a situacao nao estah facil... e nao consigo ajudar a ninguem a esse momento. Pra simplificar, nao conheco nenhum lugar q esteja contratatando agora... e fico triste de nao poder ajudar aos meus amigos.

Cada dia q passa me sinta mais e mais abencoado por ter um trabalho seguro e onde meus chefes me adoram, o que eh um bom sinal q pelo menos por agora, meu lugar estah garantido!

Tenho rezado e ajudado meus amigos como posso... mas claro q nao consigo salvar o mundo... entao sempre fica uma ponta de tristeza por eles. Torco q as coisas se ajeitem logo e ateh lah... o melhor conselho eh ter feh em Deus... por q ele nunca falha!!!

De volta ao normal! Alguem viu a camareira??? :)

Acabaram as minhas ferias! Esse ano fui abencoado mais uma vez com a presenca de minha familia q passou 2 semanas aqui comigo. Minha mae, pai, irma e avo vieram por 13 dias em FLA!!! Q curticao e q legal ver essa turminha de novo.

Ontem cheguei em casa e hoje de manha jah sentia saudades de tudo e de todos, especialmente das camareiras q vinham limpar nosso quarto! Como eh bom estar em ferias!!! :)

Hoje foi um dia normal.... de volta pro batente e pra turma aqui da California! Mas volto de alma lavada e pronto pra mais um grande ano!!! Ainda estou em processo de baixar todos os videos da viagem q ainda estao na maquina, mas assim q estiver com eles disponiveis comeco a mostrar pra turma toda!

Jah sinto a falta da familia ai no Brazuca, mas onde quer q vah, sempre os carrego dentro do peito e nas grandes memorias q tivemos juntos! (mais uma vez) E tenho certeza q serao apenas mais umas de muitas outras q teremos pela frente. Tempos Bonissimos!!! Com Certeza ;)

Coffe Maniac!!!

Chego a conclusao hoje q sou viciado em cafe! Preto, Expresso e forte! Tenho q tomar pelo menos uma chicara todas as manhas e qdo faco.... bah.. pode vir chuva de pedras q estou tranquilo e pronto pro q der e vier.

Agora se eu nao tomar meu cafezinho esperto de manha.... fico emburrado e com muico pouca paciencia pra lidar com outras pessoas... em especial aqueles/ aquelas mais proximos de mim. Afinal, o quanto mais perto voce estah de alguem.... o mais provavel eh q tuh tenha q lidar com piadinhas, babaquices e outras cositas mas...

Nao sei o que eh.... mas o poder de um copo de cafe afeta meu humor de uma maneira sem precedentes! E eh soh um copo... mais do q isso eu fico enjoado... Uma xicarazinha esperta de cafe quentinho e sou um hombre nuevo!!
